About Chatham Chorale

Mission Statement:
Dedicated to performing the world's rich diversity of choral music and supporting the musical arts and artists on Cape Cod.

Chatham Chorale & Chatham Chorale Chamber Singers

2011 will recognize forty one years of exceptional music making by the Chatham Chorale and the Chamber Singers of the Chatham Chorale. The groups have established themselves to be among Cape Cod's finest of outstanding and distinctive choral performers. In presenting some of the world's best-known choral works, CC and CCCS offer opportunities for members and those among the general population of Cape Cod who love music, to be involved in the promotion, appreciation and education of the musical arts.

Chatham Chorale

Founded in 1970 by Marjorie Bennett Morley and Dr. E. Robert Harned, the Chatham Chorale's reputation was clearly formed by Ms. Morley's 17 years of inspiring and dedicated leadership. Since that time membership has grown to one hundred auditioned singers, representing almost every town on Cape Cod, who enjoy the versatile programming and diverse repertoire. Margaret T. Bossi joined the Chorale in 1985 becoming its Music Director 1987. Upon her retirement at the end of the 2009-2010 season she was granted the title of Music Director Emerita in recognition of her 25 years of service to the Chorale.

In addition to singing great choral works, the Chorale has collaborated with the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, the Paul Winter Consort, Cape Cod Repertory Theatre, Mastersingers by the Sea, Theresa Thomason's Gospel Singers, local churches, schools and young persons' choirs.

The Chamber Singers of the Chatham Chorale are a group of thirty plus voices that present two concerts annually. While focusing on artistic quality, both groups give deliberate attention to their responsibility of increasing an awareness of and participation in outreach. The Chorale funds an annual scholarship for local students pursuing a musical education and the Chamber Singers make ongoing service appearances in nursing and assisted living facilities, a variety of community events and help share the joys music can inspire.

T. Joseph Marchio

T. Joseph Marchio Director of the Chatham Chorale

In August, 2010, Joe Marchio was appointed the Chorale's third Music Director. Currently he is Minister of Music at the First Congregational Church in Chatham, MA, and an adjunct faculty member at Cape Cod Community College teaching music history and directing the college chorus. Additionally, Joe is conductor of Cantata 4 Ensemble, a Boston-based vocal/instrumental group of professionals and students that specializes in Baroque music performance.

A graduate of the College of Wooster where he earned both Bachelor in organ performance and Bachelor of Arts in religious studies degrees, Joe Marchio also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Yale Institute of Sacred Music and Master of Music degree in choral conducting from Boston Conservatory. Mr. Marchio has planned an excellent year of concerts to be performed both by the Chatham Chorale and the Chamber Singers and his guidance and leadership will bring a promising future.
